This internee was among 29 Issei men who were sent on the tenth transfer ship for internment on the Mainland. Some were later paroled to War Relocation Authority camps to reunite with family.

Returned to Hawaii: December 1945

Arrived in Honolulu with about 775 other internees aboard the military troopship the Shawnee.


After his return, Henry Gima would play a leading role in Hawaii's postwar Okinawan community, serving in numerous organizations, including as the first president of the Hawaii United Okinawan Association.
