This internee was among thirty-four Issei men who were sent in the ninth transfer group for internment in U.S. Army and Justice Department camps on the Mainland. The internees were sent together from camp to camp, with some paroled to War Relocation Authority camps to reunite with family or transferred for repatriation to Japan.

Yenosuke Kobayashi's father, of the same name, was himself a promiment building contractor in Honolulu; he died in the 1920s. A brother of the junior Yenosuke, James Kazuyoshi Kobayashi, served in the U.S. Military Intelligence Service during World War II. Another brother, George Yasutake Kobayashi, was a well known attorney in Honolulu during the war period and until his death in the 1950s.
