Arrived in Honolulu with about 775 other internees aboard the military troopship the Shawnee.


A daughter, Kazuko Elsie, was born to the Kouchis in confinement at Rohwer in October 1944. Several months later, their two-year-old son, Yoshihito Norman, died in the camp.
