Miyo Nakao was one of only three women to be confined at Kilauea Military Camp. The other women were Tame Iga and Fujino Kanemori.
Also arrested was Miyo Nakao's husband, Saburosuke Nakao. The couple were held for about one month, first at Kilauea Military Camp and then at the Sand Island Internment Camp on Oahu.
Saburosuke Nakao was the founder of the Tenrikyo Church in the community of Mountain View. He died in 1947 and Miyo Nakao continued as a Tenrikyo reverend and the church's leader.
