Returned to Hawaii: December 1945

Arrived in Honolulu with about 775 other internees aboard the military troopship the Shawnee.


In spring 1943, as Mataichi Nakamura and his family were transferred to the Mainland for internment, oldest son Allan Iseo Nakamura volunteered to serve in the U.S. military. He fought with the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion.
