Sent aboard the military troopship the Lurline with more than 430 other Hawaii residents for incarceration in Mainland camps.

Amache (Granada) Concentration Camp, Colorado

Returned to Hawaii: November 1945

Arrived in Honolulu with 450 other internees aboard the military troopship the Yarmouth.


While in Jerome, Kenichi Yamasaki's daughter Hiroe married Hawaii internee Takeo Morikuni, and the couple were transferred to the Gila River camp, where their daughter (and Kenichi's granddaughter), Gail Morikuni, was born. 

Yamasaki's son, Morris Moriichi Yamasaki, entered the U.S. Army following confinement at the Granada Concentration Camp. He served during the war as a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and later underwent language training with the Military Intelligence Service.
