The internees were sent together from camp to camp, with some paroled to War Relocation Authority camps to reunite with family or transferred for repatriation to Japan. This internee was in a sub-group of First Transfer Group internees who were sent from Livingston to Missoula before being transferred to Santa Fe.

By the outbreak of the war, Kinzo Sayegusa was a prominent Honolulu businessman. The head of a company founded by his father in 1900 as an importer of Japanese goods, Sayegusa had expanded the business into wholesaling and retailing through The Cherry, a popular downtown store.
In the postwar years, Sayegusa joined with other prominent businessmen and returning Nisei soldiers to create Central Pacific Bank, a financial institution catering to the islands' large Japanese American population. He served as on the bank's charter board of directors along with fellow internees Koichi Iida (also the bank's first CEO), Kazuyui Kawano, Lawrence T. Kagawa, and Sadato Morifuji.
Today, the Yonekura business is known as The Cherry Company, Japanese food and beverage supplier in Honolulu.
