Misao Shoda, the daughter of Hawaii internee Seiichi Shoda, entered the Mainland internment system with her mother and siblings in order to reunite with father Seiichi. While at Tule Lake, she married Masami Chikasue. Their daughter, Fujima, was born in camp.
