Irene Umeno Harada was the wife of Yoshio Harada, who died in the Ni'ihau Incident of December 12, 1941, when a Japanese pilot crash landed on the remote island. She was among the half dozen women who had been arrested and then incarcerated at the Honouliuli Internment Camp. The others were Masako Fujimura, Helen Shizuko Nakagawa, Haruko Takahashi, Yasue Takahashi, and Ryuto Tsuda.
