Rev. Myoshun Hayashi arrived in Hawaii as a Buddhist missionary in 1929, serving on various islands until being named the resident minister of the Koloa mission some ten years later. He continued to serve as a priest in Koloa until his retirement in 1965, remaining active in efforts to promote U.S. naturalization within the immigrant community.
