Shinsaku Kuba's son Allen Saburo Kuba was living in Los Angeles at the time of the mass evacuation of Japanese Americans from the West Coast. He was held first at the Santa Anita Assembly Center and then at the Heart Mountain Relocation Center. Having been granted release from Heart Mountain in June 1943, Allen Kuba enlisted in the U.S. military. He served as a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, 2nd Battalion.
