Fujino Kanemori was one of only three women known to have been incarcerated at Kilauea Military Camp. The others were Tame Iga of Hilo and Miyo Nakao of Mountain View.
Kanemori was transferred to the Sand Island Internment Camp and paroled in September 1942. Her husband, Shinroku Kanemori, also was arrested; he was transferred to the Mainland and confined until November 1945.
The Kanemoris' son Edward Michitada Kanemori served during the war as a member of the U.S. Military Intelligence Service.
