Ozaki, Ichitaro

Like other internees Sanji Abe, Frank Futoshi Arakawa, Frank Takeshi Ishii, Sukeichi Koide, Shigeru Ernest Matsusaka, and Ichiro Sato, Ichitaro Ozaki was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. 

He was the official chauffeur for the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu. By the start of World War II, Ozaki had worked at the consulate for more than 20 years as a driver and caretaker. With this in mind, Ozaki was retained in his position, with Hawaiian military government approval, even after the Japanese consulate was transferred to the Swedish vice consul in Hawaii after the outbreak of war. Nevertheless, Ozaki was subsequently arrested and interned.
