Saburosuke Nakao was the founder of the Tenrikyo Church in the community of Mountain View on Hawaii Island. In 1942, he and his wife, Miyo Nakao, were arrested and detained, first at the Kilauea Military Camp and then at Sand Island on Oahu. They were released after a month of confinement.
Saburosuke Nakao died in 1947, and Miyo Nakao served as the church's leader.
